eBay Managed payments
Date: January 2018 – present

With managed payments
Role: Overall UX design lead for the project from conception to completion. In charge of the end to end experience and strategy. Both overseeing other designers’ work and tackling experiences myself.
I was hand picked as the first designer for this initiative and was heavily involved in the product direction from square one.
Overview
In 2015 eBay and PayPal split into two separate companies. In 2018 it was decided that eBay will start managing payments instead of going through PayPal.
Known as the eBay Managed Payments initiative, it is a fast paced, ever-changing series of projects to allow eBay to manage the sellers’ payments, previously handled on PayPal.com. It affects 23M+ active sellers, ~$70B GMV, and spans the whole eBay eCommerce ecosystem.
As PayPal and eBay have been so interweaved for decades, this isn’t a small feat. In fact, Managed Payments is the largest systematic change on eBay. Ever.
Responsibilities
Imagine, manage, and drive projects by defining customer problems and developing creative and innovative design solutions from concept to implementation.
Own discipline-related design strategy and decision making on critical projects while working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Research, Content Strategy, Business, and leadership to represent the design team.
Leading or assisting in the creation and giving of presentations to leadership, including the VP of Design, the VPs and SVP of Payments, the CPO, and several others.
What Managed pAyments touches
Managed Payments touches many aspects of eBay and required a lot of net new experiences to be created. I’ve been involved in each touchpoint to some degree, either as an informed individual, approver/stakeholder, owner, and/or designer. I’ll dive into the details of a few of these in other projects in my portfolio.
