a few other projects

To get a better feel for some of the variety of work I’ve done, here are snippets of a few other projects I’ve worked on in the past. While I won’t go deep into the process for these, hopefully it’ll help give insight to the other types of projects I’ve worked on.

I’ll be adding a few other project overviews soon.

Setting up your charging method

Role: Lead designer for site and mobile web
Date: 2017

Known as the Automatic Payment Method on eBay, prior to Managed Payments all sellers had to provide a payment method in which eBay could charge them for selling fees and expenses. The options were typically PayPal, Direct debit, and credit or debit card, but they differed greatly between the 9 countries we launched in depending on regional payment methods.

ebay.com checkout redesign (2015)

Role: Lead designer for site and mweb
Date: 2015 (redesign), 2016 (feature enhancements)

I redesigned the checkout for eBay.com for a simpler and more streamlined experience on desktop and mobile web. This meant designing for 100+ use cases.

Problem: In the old checkout, buyers seemed to have very little options in how to pay. The emphasis was on PayPal, and in most cases you had to have a PayPal account. While you technically could pay with a credit card if it was attached to your PayPal account, it was not readily obvious.

Goal: Allow the user to be able to seamlessly and easily checkout using the payment method of their choosing.

The old checkout (Before)

Previously, the seller would review their order on eBay, say they are paying with PayPal, and then be sent to PayPal to finish their order

The new checkout (After)

On the new checkout, the seller can choose PayPal, log in, and select which method they want to use in their PayPal wallet all while on eBay.

Adding features and enhancements

After the launch of the redesigned checkout, I continued to add features and enhancements, including:

  • Adding new payment methods, such as PayPal Credit.

  • Shipping method selection enhancements, including adding Buy-Online-Pickup-In-Store (BOPIS) settings, Click and Collect (PUDO), and eBay Plus.

  • Gift cards, eBay Bucks (loyalty earning program), and coupons enhancement, such as stored gift cards.

  • Specifying donation amounts.

  • Hundreds of error cases.

EBAY.COM COLLECTIONS REDESIGN

Role: Lead designer
Date: 2014

The Collections team set out to redesign the layout to give it an updated and more editorial look and feel. It was later featured in the national eBay brand campaign.

Collections are a feature on eBay that allows regular users (and professionals) to curate items they find on the site in groups and categories in a visual way. While some users use this as a wishlist or just things they like, other's utilize this as a story telling and editorial platform. Our main goal for the redesign was to create a layout that flexed to fit both of these needs.
